How to Clone a Phone and Protect Data

Phone cloning can pertain to the copying of the data of another cell phone to another. It can also refer to the copying of another phone’s identity or to both. While cloning modern phones is certainly more difficult now, it is not entirely impossible. There are several ways on how to clone a phone and we’ll discuss a number of them here. There’s also a way to clone a phone and monitor phone activities in real-time at the same time. Read on to learn more.

How to Clone a Phone?

How to clone a phone for free? How to get text messages from another phone sent to mine? How to spy on someone’s phone without them knowing for free? These are probably some of the questions you have about phone cloning. Before we delve into the how, though, let’s take a look at the whys.

As implied by the word clone meaning make a copy or duplicate of something, you’ll essentially make a copy of the target device’s data and even identity. Phone cloning is somewhat frowned upon due to the way that people make use of it. Specifically, some people clone phones for fraudulent activities such as making calls and sending messages that would increase the right owner’s bills.

Phone cloning, however, is perfectly appropriate if done for the purpose of protecting your phone data. Take note that laws governing illegal phone cloning do not apply to your own phone’s software or the data you put on your device. You might, however, want to check with your carrier or phone manufacturer, to ensure that you are not violating any terms of service or end-user license agreements (EULAs).

There are several ways to clone a phone. Some methods would work only on Android devices like Samsung Galaxy and such while some methods would only work on iPhones. There are also methods that could work on any device or operating system.

  • Clone an Android Phone

Some Android devices actually have phone clone features so you might want to check your device for that. Even if your Android phone does not have such a feature, here are a couple of ways to easily clone an Android phone:

  • Google Drive

This is one of the most common and easiest ways to basically clone any Android phone’s data. Google Drive is, in fact, a great way to backup and protect your data. It does have limited free storage but that’s fairly large so you could still store a lot of data. Also, you could always choose to pay for a larger storage plan.

Here’s how to clone your data via Google Drive:

  • Go to Settings on your old Android phone.
  • Tap Backup & Reset option
  • Turn on Backup my data (Take note: Remember the login credentials to the account you are using to backup your data).
  • You can then open your new Android device and set it up.
  • Sign in to the same Google account you used to back up your data.
  • Choose the latest backup.
  • Select the data you want to move to the new device
  • Tap the Restore option to clone the files to your new android device.
  • Bluetooth

You can also use Bluetooth to clone an Android phone. This option is a bit limited, however. It’s also not a very smooth process but it still works.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Turn on Bluetooth on both Android devices.
  • On your old Android phone, pair it with the new Android device.
  • Go to Files Manager on your old Android device.
  • Select the data you want to transfer to the new device.
  • Tap the Menu button and choose Share.
  • Choose Bluetooth to transfer the selected data.
  • Select the paired phone as the destination device.
  • Click the Accept button to start the transfer process.

  • Clone an iPhone

Here are a couple of ways to clone an iPhone.

  • iCloud

iCloud can be used to clone your old iPhone’s data. There are a couple of limitations, though – limited storage space and selected type of data that can be cloned. You also have to make sure that iCloud backup is enabled on your iPhone.

Here’s how to clone your iPhone via iCloud:

  • Go to the App & Data screen of your new device.
  • Choose the Restore from iCloud Backup option.
  • Sign in to your iCloud account.
  • Choose the backup to restore your iPhone.
  • iTunes

You can also clone your iOS device through iTunes. Compared to iCloud, iTunes allows you to clone all data, including some settings at a faster rate. Of course, you have to back up your old device to the iTunes library. Next, launch iTunes and connect your old iPhone to your Mac or PC via USB cable. Click Device > Summary > Back Up Now.

To restore the data, do the following:

  • Connect your new iPhone to the Mac or PC.
  • Click on the device in iTunes and click Summary.
  • Choose Restore Backup.
  • Select the right backup and click Restore.

Phone Clone Tools and Software

A more effective way to clone your target iPhone or Android device is by using a phone cloning tool or software. Such software can efficiently copy all data from the target device. The data will usually be stored on a secure online database or on another storage device of your choice.

There is also software that can clone all data of any device as well as keep tabs on all activities on the said device. These tools are known as phone monitoring software. Such software can provide real-time updates of both in-device and online activities. It will effectively allow users to monitor a cell phone even without having physical access to it.

Cloning your phone is a great way to keep your data secure. This is most helpful in the event your old device breaks down or gets lost or stolen. Choose the phone cloning that’s most efficient for you and protect your data.
